A clear, respectful path from first call to final agreement.
Every engagement begins with a short intake conversation to confirm that mediation is the right fit and that both parties are willing to participate. From there, we send a background questionnaire and a list of documents to gather — things like income disclosure, asset statements, and any existing parenting schedules. Once we have a shared picture of the issues, we schedule a virtual session that suits both parties' calendars.
During the session Jana guides the conversation, keeps discussion productive, and explains the relevant Alberta family-law framework — child support guidelines, spousal support principles, matrimonial property rules — so both parties can negotiate with full information. Anything agreed is written up in a Memorandum of Understanding, which can be converted into a binding Separation Agreement or filed with the court as needed.
Most matters resolve in one to three sessions. Complex files involving corporate assets, pensions, or high-conflict parenting may take longer, but the process stays voluntary, confidential, and dramatically faster than litigation from start to finish.
